We stayed here as a group to attend a local conference. The location of Lance’s charming (house) was walkable to where we needed to go. There was a great coffee shop around the corner that we went to every day. The neighborhood felt safe. There was plenty of space for our large group.

Great place to stay. Lance was very helpful and informative. This house was like stepping back in time. Coming from the west coast we are not used to seeing something 100 plus years old. Lance has done a really good job of restoring this residence.

No surprises at all staying at Lance’s historic property. We had a great time, and the location is perfect for anything you want to do in Baltimore. Don’t be scared off by his extensive list of rules, it’s needed, and you’ll understand when you see all the furnishings, everything is top notch. Lance is super responsive and a great host, will not consider any other place next time I’m in town.

Thanks for the hospitality. Beautiful actual 4 floor mansion which has been beautifully kept and showcases the many antiques that are housed here. Within walking distance of a market, restaurants, coffee shops, a fabulous art gallery. Convenient to public transportation. Perfect for our Girls week. P.S.: Loved the Walters, the Food, the People, and the Architecture of Baltimore is amazing.

3/2021 – Paul
Lance was a great host. His house is very convenient to everything in the Mt. Vernon area. I was visiting my daughter and spent the middle of the day’s I was there working from the house. WiFI was good and the area is quiet. Other’s have mentioned the stairs, there are a lot…but, it wasn’t an issue. The house is quaint, well cared for and comfortable.
2/2020 – Erin – Pennsylvania
We very much enjoyed our family getaway in Lance’s restored historical home. Anyone who stays here should not miss a visit to the Walters, which is so close and has an amazing collection that anyone can enjoy, and even great family programming, for FREE!

4/2019 – Franklin – Florida
Can’t say enough about this place Outstanding history to the building. The architecture, the decor fitting, Lance is a great guy, best host I’ve had yet. I only wish my stay in Baltimore was longer. Near the Inner Harbor. I slept like a baby. AND THE BATHROOM !!!!!! OMG if you know your stuff.
4/2019 – Monica – Oregon
Space is clean, simple, convenient location (I was there for the convention center). Lance was friendly and responsive, overall made it an easy experience.
3/2019 – Grant – NYC
Lance’s place is beautiful, and is conveniently located in relation to a number of bars and restaurants. The elegant architecture and friendly home environment makes Lance’s place a welcoming spot that puts local hotels to shame at a fraction of the cost.

11/2018 – William – Wyoming
It really worked out well as a home base for our meetings at the Convention Center, Probably the best place we have stayed at in almost 20 years! What a fantastic place! An amazing historic home. We felt honored to be able to stay here. Really enjoyed the neighborhood, too. Two blocks from the Basilica. Just a few blocks from the historic Mount Vernon neighborhood. Walking distance to the inner harbor and convention center. Lance was an awesome host…very helpful with information and had everything in the house set up perfectly for our stay. Can’t say enough.

8/2018 – Sarah – Missouri
It was such a unique experience staying in one of these historic homes. It was great for my 2-night stay! And the location is just perfect. I appreciated the easy access and quiet home.
8/2018 – Brendan – Ireland
Lance’s place was better than expected. It is a centrally located, though quiet, town-house with high quality period decoration which gives a very comfortable and homely feel to the place.
7/2018 – Daryl – Louisiana
Great example of Old Baltimore and another era. Ceilings for days, marvelous mirrors, luscious light fixtures and architectural details make it special. The location is excellent and walking distance to restaurants, grocery, spirits, nightlife and more. Steps to the Walters Museum and close to the Inner Harbor – It’s in the middle of everything but exceedingly quiet. Bed was comfortable and the main kitchen well appointed. It was a particularly a good place to stay with our group as each of us had our privacy (and personal bathrooms! ) but were able to gather in the common area to share meals and stories.
6/2018 – Louise – Massachussetts
Great location and a short walk up hill from waterfront and convention center. Near Baltimore Basilica, public library, and Walter’s Art Museum. Would stay here again when in Baltimore on business or vacation.

10/2017 – Josh – Arizona
If you’re planning on a trip to Baltimore, you should definitely consider staying here. The pictures can’t do the restoration justice. Every time we returned from being out we were struck by more detail that we had previously missed. Lance is also extremely welcoming and accommodating, even for us west coast travelers who get in late with the time change. Would absolutely stay here again.
10/2017 – Julia – NYC

10/2016 – Morgan – Texas
I loved it. The home is beautiful! Plenty of room for my family to hang out together in the great room, but ample room for when you’ve had enough family time and need some alone time to escape. Nice neighborhood. Close walking distance to Inner Harbor.

Great place to stay. The home is beautiful and full of stories and character.
9/2016 – Darwin – Seattle, WA
Lance went out of his way to make sure that our stay at his home was perfect for our group. One of the best stays for our team – and we travel across the US. We will definitely return here when in Baltimore next year!

Wow this place is amazing. I feel like Beethoven staying in this place.
2016 – Team London Music Masters – London, UK
Amazing house, great stay! Thanks so much!
7/2016 – Rob – London, UK
Lance was a great host, who made us feel very welcome and was extremely helpful and obliging. His house was absolutely beautiful and although we were not around very much, we felt very relaxed when we did spend time there. The bedrooms / suites are all very comfortable and sizeable, and some have their own kitchens, although there is also a central kitchen in which you can find everything you need. Mount Vernon is a great neighbourhood for exploring as there are lots of cultural sights and great places to eat and drink in the area. I would highly recommend a stay at this wonderful home. Thank you Lance for making our first trip to Baltimore one to remember!
6/2016 – Bethany, John, Mike, Ryan, Ray, Chris, Chad, Adam, Anna, Vanessa – Pennsylvania
Beautiful house, cool neighborhood! Had a great time!
5/2016 – Group from Cork, Ireland; Raleigh, NC, Boston, MA
Well Recommended! Huge and Comfortable. Elegant yet Homey!
5/2016 – Hal – California
Lance has built his product of several suites around a fortuitously preserved dining room and parlor of a classic ante-bellum mansion/townhouse complete with its museum-quality original antique furnishings. You may be able to visit a setting like this on a tour of a Mt Vernon Square mansion, but they would never let you cook a meal and eat it in the dining room like you can here. This is a chance to live in Baltimore in the 1850’s (albeit with an induction stove!). A must for any architect or designer.
4/2016 – Victor – San Francisco, CA
My colleagues and I had a GREAT EXPERIENCE at Lance’s place. It was like staying inside a museum! Home is historically gorgeous! Lance was very responsive and proactive. He accommodated any special requests we had and made the stay SO EASY. Location of home was perfect! Our convention was at the Baltimore Convention Center and it was a pleasant walk there and back. Area around the home is very nice. Home is HUGE … an “urban mansion”! Much larger than any of us are used to and, after my team members left early, the home felt a bit too big for me! Overall, a really nice stay. Lance is a wonderful host and we had a great time. Enjoyed the history of the building, too!
4/2016 – Courtney – Maryland
The house is beautiful and the location is great. Everything was perfect.
4/2016 – Janet – California

3/2016 – Charles – Arkansas
Legit…
3/2016 – WIlliam – New Jersey
This house is amazing and was even better than the pictures. Me and my friends really enjoyed spending time in the library room and it was very picturesque. The suites were perfect and gave everyone plenty of space to themselves. The house is also situated in a cool neighborhood with good places to eat and drink.
2/2016 – Michael – Virginia
This was an absolutely wonderful place to stay. It has the old world history and charm that is rarely seen. It is very evident that this was a home used by aristocrats, and has been kept immaculately. Lance is the best of hosts. He even shared some of the history of this pre-civil war home. The suites are everything and more. The parlor looks as if out of a magazine. For my birthday weekend this was the best way to bring in my thirties. The suites are able to be connected if you have friends, or would like a private area just to yourselves. I can’t begin to tell you how great the Mansion was, you just have to stay and find out for yourself. You absolutely will not be dissatisfied.
2/2016 – The Ivory’s – Virginia
We really enjoyed our experience. The house is amazing!
1/2016 – Christine – Texas
Lance was able to accommodate our last minute request to host our staff retreat for two days. The house was incredible- such a beautiful tribute to Baltimore history. He saved the day and our staff had a great time staying in his beautiful home!
1/2016 – The Nijjers – UK
Thank you for the best sleeps we have ever had! The house was amazing. Hope you visit England one day!
1/2016 – Harpal – England, UK
The property is exactly as described and is in a great neighbourhood.
1/2016 – Kelley – Texas
I had a great stay in Lance’s beautiful townhouse! He always responded very quickly to my questions before I arrived in Baltimore and during my stay. The home is very clean, warm and welcoming and is in a great location. If you like to cook, the kitchen is equipped with everything you would need or there are several coffee shops and a few nice restaurants near by. It was close to public transportation and Lyft is active in the area.
12/2015 – Zach – Washington
We had a group of friends from school get together for a 30th birthday and for the 4 couples it was great staying in a house together. Decor and accommodations are vintage and very well done. The neighborhood has a lot of restaurants nearby and you are walking distance to the harbor and stadiums. Lance knows the area and provided great recommendations.
11/2015 – Becca – California
So glad to have stayed in this unique space during my visit to Baltimore. An easy and pleasant walk to the Convention Center/Inner Harbor/shops and restaurants with convenient and inexpensive parking in a public lot less than a 2-minute walk from the apartment. The house is an amazing piece of history with gorgeous common space.
11/2015 – Don – Pennsylvania
It was a very relaxing atmosphere after a day spent at an annual conference for my job. His location in a historic district was only a nice walk away from the Baltimore Conference center and Inner Harbor region. I would definitely rebook with Lance for my next Baltimore trip.
10/2015 – Jared – Maryland
His space is big and beautiful with a wonderful historic charm. Highly recommended.
10/2015 – Mary – Washington, DC
This is a treasure of a home, lovingly restored by someone – Lance – with a high energy level, substantial skill, and a great eye. Many features from the early years — fireplace surrounds, floors, staircases, extraordinary mirrors — remain. Books, good lighting, and security all play into a warm, welcoming stay.
10/2015 – Oliver – Germany
My experience at Lance’s place was a quite exceptional one. His house (castle would actually be more suitable) has been renovated and furnished by Lance himself and shows a great sense of style and true authenticity, radiating a very pleasant aura.
10/2015 – Brian – New Jersey
We loved staying at Lance’s beautiful house. It was private, conveniently located near a few great restaurants, and very comfortable. We especially loved the enormous library where we spent the late afternoon snoozing among the books. Though we did not have the chance to meet Lance in person, he was available to answer any questions and get us settled quickly and easily. Staying at his house was definitely one of the highlights of our Baltimore visit.
9/2015 – Stephen – New York
Lance’s description of the room was right on, and he help us feel welcome upon arrival. He accommodated our luggage before official arrival time, because we came in by train and wanted to walk around town. The train station is just down the road, and the Mt. Vernon neighborhood is convenient to both the harbor and university areas, with a fine art museum practically across the street. Lance maintains a beautiful property.
9/2015 – Judith – Connecticut
Lance was a wonderful, accommodating host. Communication was seamless. His beautiful home is conveniently located, so much so that once we arrived, we never used our car again until we left the city. We were able to walk everywhere–great restaurants, great theater, and great museums–just minutes away. Our bedrooms were large with comfortable beds, and a convenient kitchen downstairs.
9/2015 – Linsey
Lots of space, close to a great cafe, cool shopping, and an easy walk to the convention center. Convenient public transit nearby. The house itself is gorgeous. Lance says he’s about to do some renovations which will make this place even more impressive. Rules to the house are clear and common sense – follow them and you will have a great experience.
9/2015 – Denise
This was a great home! Close to the Hippodrome where our conference was located.
9/2015 – Jenna
Lances home was absolutely gorgeous and Lance could not have been a better host . We loved our stay there and cannot wait to come back. The home has been lovingly restored respecting the amazing architectural detail of the old Baltimore rowhomes… I would have loved to stay longer .
8/2015 – Daniel, Natalie, and Ben – Michigan
Thanks for giving us such a calm and beautiful space to come back to. We had a great time staying here while attending our conference. The house is beautiful; Lance, an architect, has remodeled and restored it in a way that captures the spirit of an upper class house from the 1800s. Much of the furniture and decor is also consistent with that theme, and is simultaneously elegant and accessible. The location was perfect for us: great restaurants nearby, a cool neighborhood, and an easy walk to the convention center. Lance was also a good host, and helped us have an enjoyable trip to Baltimore.
8/2015 – Bret & Tom – New York
What a lovely stay we had – this home has wonderful energy.
8/2015 – Craig – Ontario, Canada
Lance was an outstanding host! He obviously cares a lot about the comfort and happiness of his guests. There’s one important problem with the house — it’s so magnificent that you may decide you don’t want to leave! The neighbourhood is great, with the Walters Art Museum less than a block away and lots of delicious food and coffee within walking distance. The house is easily accessible by public transportation (I arrived directly from the airport via light rail).
7/2015 – Marisa
Lance’s home and his hospitality were amazing. Instead of opting for a hotel, my parents and I stayed at Lance’s during the weekend of my wedding. His home looks like a museum, and his accommodations were unbelievably comfortable. We had the pleasure of enjoying a cup of coffee while swapping stories about Baltimore with Lance. He is very knowledgeable and well connected within the community, and can certainly answer questions about the area. The location of his townhouse is impossible to beat; it is only a few feet from the Walters Museum, and it lies within walking distance of the Harbor. My party was able to use Uber and Lyft to get to all the main neighborhoods in Baltimore for very reasonable prices. I couldn’t be more grateful or pleased to have stayed at Lance’s townhome, and my family has been raving about it for the past two weeks.
7/2015 – Tidemond Family – Denmark
Thank you, Lance. We had a lovely, calm stay.
6/2015 – Em – Switzerland
I enjoyed every minute of it. Lemme know if you ever make it out to Switzerland.
5/2015 – Sudeman family – California
Beautiful historic house. Lovely!
5/2015 – Mark and Family – Washington
Loved this place! We had a great time in Baltimore and Lance was a great host. Super convenient location. Cheers!
5/2015 – Justin & friends – New York
Beautiful home w/a lot of character. Thank you for the restful stay.
5/2015 – Samad
We stayed at Lance’s for a business retreat. We were looking for some down time to redesign our website, and talk big picture. The house inspired, and we were able to get our creativity going with the atmosphere.
5/2015 – Bryant
Oh my gosh, you must go and explore this lovely apartment (technically, it’s a house). It’s 4 floors plus the roof! I give this place a 5 star rating plus one more point, just for being awesome overall.
4/2015 – Chris
Do yourself a favor – stay at Lance’s when you’re in Baltimore. He has a stunning home in a wonderful historical part of town, filled with period furniture. It is by far the most beautifully historical place in which I’ve stayed. If you are looking to experience something other than an anonymous hotel room, look no further!
4/2015 – Mark
The place exactly matched his description and we enjoyed the historic aspect. Definitely exceeded our expectations. Read the other reviews – we echo those sentiments. Loved the neighborhood, loved his place, can’t recommend it enough.
4/2015 – Sue – North Carolina
Lance is a gracious host and has put a lot of work into creating a beautiful and historically authentic experience for his guests. Could not have chosen a better place to stay – lovely house… the Europeans especially loved it! “First class” is how my partner’s 76 year old Albanian father describes it – by far his favorite accommodations in America during his trip, and that includes our home! We look forward to returning, and for a longer stay.
4/2015 – Jon
It is one thing to visit Baltimore, and another to stay in a nationally registered historic building restored with such amazing attention to detail. Lance has a keen eye, and has done such a wonderful job making this building much as it was in the 1840’s. We had the option of staying at a big near-by hotel with family and the wedding party, we have NO regrets staying just a few blocks away and having a truly memorable experience.
3/2015 – Enrique – Madrid, Spain
Great place to stay, you can feel the charm of an old and historic town house with great furniture and atmosphere. We are from Europe so we can safely say that this is a place that you could also find in many historical places in Europe, great surprise for us! The whole house looks nicer than it is reflected in the photos. Lance was nice and very reachable, he explained the rules of the house clearly and took care of things very professionally. Great Place, great house, beautiful city with astonishing art. Loved the house and loved the location.
3/2015 – James – Massachussetts
We love the house, the history, and location. Thank you!
3/2015 – Linda & Elizabeth – Algeria
Your house is truly beautiful – and historic!. We really appreciated everything!
3/2015 – Mike & Leah – Utah

3/2015 – Sandra, Gina, Avi & Zach
Thank you for a lovely time. The home is absolutely gorgeous. We had an amazing stay!
2/2015 – Lisa & Amy – Oregon
This was the most amazing place we have ever stayed!!! We really cannot say enough great things about this place! It is private, regal, and enchanting. The neighborhood is in a stellar walkable location. Lance was prompt and appropriate with communicating on our arrival. Further, there was a snow storm and he was able to guide us in getting provisions, and even offered us a bottle of wine. We highly recommend this space, and will return to it when in Baltimore.
2/2015 – Chloe – Belgium
Lance’s house is ideally located in a very nice neighborhood, not far from the port and plenty of nice restaurants. The room is large and beautiful, and the bathroom even more, it’s a pleasure to have a stay in such an environment. Lance is a pleasant and interesting host, who takes care of his home as much as his guests.

2/2015 – Josh – California
I had a great time staying at Lance’s place in Baltimore. The townhouse is beautiful and has clearly been restored with great care. The neighborhood is great and it was easy to walk to lots of different places, including the convention center where I was attending a conference. Having the Walters museum across the street was wonderful. Lance was a great host as well. He made us feel very welcome and was happy to recommend great places to go and to give us some history of the area.
10/2014 – Jack – New Jersey
A group of four of us stayed with Lance & had a great time. He has a beautiful home and keeps everything extremely clean and organized. The location was perfect as well. The block itself is a quiet section of midtown, and makes for an easy ride to all neighboring areas. As for Lance, he could not have been more helpful. He welcomed us when we arrived, helped us with parking, gave us the tour & then stood back and let us enjoy ourselves. As expected, he knows the neighborhood extremely well and gave us a few great food and drink suggestions. I sincerely recommend staying with Lance if you’re looking for a relaxing time in Baltimore.
10/2014 – Wayne – Virginia
Excellent stay. Great place, spacious, very clean, quiet, good energy.
9/2014 – Paola – Italy
We had problems with the return trip and thanks to his calls we were able to resolve them, his help was crucial. The house matched the description, the rooms were clean, spacious, the Victorian style was what we were looking for. We already knew the neighborhood having come to Baltimore before, and we wanted to be in Mount Vernon because of the proximity to all the places to visit and the atmosphere of the streets.

9/2014 – Aaron – Maine
Lance was very nice and accommodating. His house is an American treasure. I would highly recommend his place. The neighborhood is also a nice place to walk around.
9/2014 – George & Patty – New York
This was/is a spectacular house in a beautiful city. We felt privileged to stay here. The historic house was stunning. Everything was updated, had lovely period furniture, and modern amenities. The Mt. Vernon area of Baltimore is a very nice neighborhood that is less than 1.5 miles from the inner harbor and stadiums. We made the walk a few times and also used the trolly and the free bus that stops a few blocks from the apartment..
9/2014 – Patty – Panama
Great to have a glimpse into life in this neighborhood. This was a great place to stay to feel like what it would be like to live in that neighborhood. Beautiful home! The whole place is beautiful… a step back in time with wonderful antique furniture. The bathroom is beautiful. Steps away is the Walters Art Museum, many monuments, and quite a few restaurants. Very close to the inner harbor which would be a healthy walk but there’s a bus easily available.
8/2014 – Andrew & Brandi – Maryland
If you want to avoid hordes of tourists and the noise of the city while staying in a central location in Baltimore, then stay at Lance’s. It is spacious and very nicely appointed with antique furniture, which makes you feel more at home. The house is a short walk away from many of the main attractions of downtown Baltimore, like the Inner Harbor, the Mount Vernon neighborhood, and the Baltimore Convention Center.
8/2014 – Matt – New Jersey
The description of the property was accurate. The neighborhood was extremely nice and safe. I took walks around at night with my 8 year old son, and wife, and felt safe. There are restaurants within walking distance. Lance warned us about the 4 flights of stairs and it was not a problem. His house is a work of art and on the second floor you feel like it’s the 1850’s. My son played with his daughter and he was friendly and helpful.
7/2014 – Anna – NYC
I truly enjoyed my stay at Lance’s place. His home is absolutely stunning – just like in the pictures. The rooms are full of character and charm, giving off a warm, cozy vibe. He was very knowledgeable about the neighborhood and shared his favorite places to go and things to do. Exceeded my expectations overall and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to visit Baltimore!
7/2014 – David
We had the best time… Can’t wait till next time!
7/2014 – Corine – California
What a wonderful home in every way! The four floor row home is in a spectacular location next to the Walters Museum, the Charm Circulator stop, fabulous restaurants on every block and a short distance to the Inner Harbor. We were in town for daughter’s graduation and stayed a week but it was too short to do a fraction of what we wanted to do. Our host Lance was out of town during our stay but very close by phone and very concerned for our stay. The rooms are lovely. Only wish we had had more time to just stay at the house and enjoy it! We would love to come again someday.
7/2014 – Brooke & Misti – Ohio
Great location and a beautiful home. Amazed at the beauty of this place! Recommended for work or fun in Baltimore.
7/2014 – Cat – New York
Lance has put his talents to brilliant use, restoring and furnishing his historic townhouse with a professional eye to detail and charm; it makes for a uniquely immersive and relaxing stay! What’s more, Lance’s stunning Townhouse is centrally located. We loved Lance and our two nights in Baltimore, and we DEF plan to re-visit!
6/2014 – Mary Ann – Maryland
Lance was an extremely gracious host, and his home was the ideal location for our Baltimore weekend with friends. We walked downtown to Camden Yards for an afternoon game after having a great breakfast at a cute coffee shop nearby. The pictures of Lance’s place do not do it justice – the main floor is spectacular and our bedrooms were pretty and spacious. Even the bathroom was stylish! It was a perfect weekend, and we’d most definitely return to Lance’s place next time we’re in B’more.
6-2014 – Rodrigo – Maryland
Absolutely gorgeous home! Comfortable and big. Location-wise, the house is very close to great restaurants, bars and easy access to free public transportation. Overall, I had a great time, and I will definitively contact Lance again for my next visit to Baltimore.
6/2014 – Kyusong – Pittsburgh, PA
The decoration of the house is really great! It was very comfortable bed. We had a great time in Baltimore.
6/2014 – Vera – Netherlands
We had a great stay at Lance’s. Great location and beautiful house, it is very comfortable.

Beautiful home! We had a very nice two night stay. The home itself is stunning and the rooms were gorgeously furnished. Very quiet and comfortable as well. The neighborhood is my favorite in Baltimore. So much history and just lovely for walking and exploring. Lance was great and helpful but we were out most of the days we were in town so we didn’t have much of a chance to socialize more. I highly recommend you do because he is very knowledgeable about Baltimore and the neighborhood.

Wow what a place. Literally mind-blowing. The “first floor” common area was like a private club with library, living and dining in 1840’s grand Euro-Style, complete with very high ceilings (14′ I think). The bedrooms were perfectly private, and each room was like the “hugest” ever – each with large sitting area, one with a walled off kitchenette and eating area. And the bathroom was a work of art, complete with very high end towels and wash cloths. Add to this a most pleasant, urbane and solicitous host and a perfect Mt. Vernon location, close to the best cafes and restaurants in the area. SUPERBE!!!!
